Philips Lumileds is a part of the big family of the technological giant Philips. The company owes its position as a leader largely due to the Lumileds section. It is based in San Jose, California, and is one of the companies with the biggest contribution in the development of LED technology. Its history goes back 40 years when it was a department in Hewlett-Packard, concerned with development of optic technology. In 1999, already as a part of the Philips group, Lumileds specialises in development and production of LED solutions for every-day needs.
