Bocci was founded in 2005 in a red barn, surrounded by hay fields, on the periphery of Vancouver, Canada. Today, the company has a growing portfolio of contemporary design, ranging from light installations to furniture and electrical mechanisms. All Bocci designs are developed, engineered, and fabricated in-house, through an infrastructure calibrated to provide full control over technique, quality and scale. Bocci is committed to participating in the speed of contemporary culture.
Bocci`s first product became an instant classic, once it was launched, and remained a bestseller. Series 14 is an articulated, cast glass sphere with a frosted cylindrical void. Individual pendants are visually subtle, but gain an atmospheric quality when multiplied and clustered in groups
Three separate layers of sequentially poured molten glass on a horizontal plane. Each layer responds to the indeterminate shape of the previous pour to create a uniquely layered whole. A modular stainless steel armature system connects the glass pieces to a series of branches and stems.
28 results from an innovative fabrication process that manipulates both the temperature and the direction of air flow into blown glass. The result is a slightly distorted sphere with an interior landscape of satellite shapes, including an opaque milk glass diffuser.
Your favorite Bocci models are now available for table or wall mounted version. A sleek brass cylinder allows you to adjust the light intensity for maximum comfort.
Bocci Creative Director Omer Arbel explores the mechanical, physical and chemical qualities of materials as fundamental departure points including different contexts such as architecture, industrial design, materials research, sculpture, invention, and high craft manufacturing. Arbel’s work has been exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Spazio Rossana Orlandi, Mallett, and the Monte Clark Gallery, among others.
